Real-World Navigation

People adopt different strategies during navigation through complex real environments (e.g., a large train station). For example, some people may try to minimize detours from the shortest path, and others might walk along routes that they have already traveled. Choice of strategy can also depend on the type of navigation aid being used (if any) and the navigator’s familiarity with the overall environment. We currently have three projects that are attempting to address these questions regarding real-world navigation.
