Wayfinding Strategies of Individuals and Dyads

Wayfinding strategies of dyads can be classified into four groups (Reilly, Mackay, Waters, & Inkpen, 2009) based on dyads’ mobility and the type of information accessed from a navigation aid. Previous research has relied on classification based on the verbal communication of participants. With the help of eye-tracking technology, wayfinding strategies may be assessed in a more objective way. Additionally, the gaze behavior of individual navigators may provide insight into wayfinding strategies in the absence of verbal report.
