Role Division during Wayfinding

Of all travelers in public space, more than seventy percent have been found to move in groups (Moussaïd, Perozo, Garnier, Helbing, & Theraulaz, 2010). Traveling as a group involves working together to reach the common goal. Based on the classification established by Reilly, Mackay, Waters, and Inkpen (2009), the trait distribution of a dyad will be used to determine their optimal role division during wayfinding. In the future, an understanding of role division during small-group navigation could also be applied to the development of digital navigation aids.
